What wars have your relations fought in?

I'm from NZ, a couple of relatives (great uncles I think) of mine flew for the RAF in WW2. 1 of them died in the pacific and one was shot down over Europe and was taken to the POW camp stalag luft 3. He actually took part in the great escape, he was second in line to get into the tunnel when they were found out. He survived the war but was slightly mentally scarred by it, like When he saw food going to waste he got really angry.
