How do you translate "an iron fist in a velvet glove" literally into french?

it's an internationally known expression, but i looked it up and the french "version" is: langue de miel, coeur de fiel = mouth/tongue of honey, heart of gall. (i'm pretty sure..) which doesnt sound too pretty at all.
